MONCKS CORNER, SC (WCSC) - Family and friends will gather Friday afternoon to remember Ariel Morgan, who was shot and killed during a block party in Berkeley County last weekend.
A wake for the 19-year-old will be held today from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Scott's Mortuary on Highway 52 in Moncks Corner. Morgan's funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church on Rivers Ave. in North Charleston.
Investigators say Morgan was attending a block party on Tish Lane in Moncks Corner Friday when gunfire broke out later in the night.
Berkeley County deputies say at least seven different guns were fired at the party early Saturday morning, injuring four people in addition to Morgan. The five victims were transported to an area hospital, where Morgan died of her injuries.
Morgan, a sophomore at Francis Marion University, took to Twitter Friday afternoon to say she just wanted to be able to have a good time at the party, and hoped all troublemakers would stay home.
"Charleston Most Ratchets pls stay your (expletive) home, some of us want our life's and just want to have a good & safe time. thank you," she tweeted on her Twitter handle, @_relllll_.
No suspects have been identified at this time.
