BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Authorities have arrested a man accused of fatally shooting a 41-year-old man in a St. Stephen trailer park last week.

St. Stephen Police Chief John Waters says Jamal Harris-Nelson, of St. Stephen, was arrested Monday night in connection with last Wednesday's deadly shooting of John David Morant. He was booked at the Hill Finklea Detention Center at 8:55 p.m. and charged with murder.

According to authorities, cops were called out to a home in the 1000 block of Graham Street around 11 a.m. in reference to a shooting. At the home, officers found Morant, who was suffering from a gunshot wound to the back.

Waters says Morant did not cooperate with authorities, and died while on the way to the hospital.

The incident is being investigated by St. Stephen police, the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office, and the Coroner's Office.
