King Street reopens after fire incident

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston Fire Department says it put out a small fire at a building near 298 King Street.

Firefighters responded to the area at 3:13 p.m. based on a report of a possible structure fire, according to spokesman Ryan Kunitzer. Firefighters found light smoke showing near the roof of a building on arrival and were able to extinguish a small fire on the roof of the structure, Kunitzer said.

Traffic at King and George Streets was temporarily closed while the fire was put out.

Firefighters cleared the scene at approximately 1:50 p.m.
