CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Twenty recruits graduated as certified level two firefighters on Friday from the Charleston Fire Department recruit program, according to Charleston Fire Department Spokesman Ryan Kunitzer.
The recruits completed 26 weeks of firefighter training in courses including emergency vehicle driver training, basic auto extrication and fundamentals of firefighting. Their certification is accredited by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress.
"We are proud of the dedicated work by the recruits, their instructors, and the support displayed by the entire department," said Pat Wilson, Deputy Chief of Planning and Professional Development at the Charleston Fire Department.
Savannah Fire Department Chief Charles Middleton was a guest speaker at the ceremony.
