LEE COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Authorities need your help in locating a man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting in Verona.

Roy Ray Merritt, 33, is charged with possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and should be considered armed and dangerous.

Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson says two people were shot outside a home on City Point Road Saturday afternoon.

One of those victims, 41-year-old Rodney Lowery, died after he was shot multiple times.

Cornell Weatherspoon was shot once and is out of the hospital.

Investigators say the shooting is connected to an argument and fight that happened Friday at the Eagle store on Raymond Avenue in Verona.

Verona police is investigating the Friday incident, but the department turned the shooting over to sheriff's investigators because Lowery is related to someone on the Board of Aldermen.

If you know where Merritt is, you're asked to call the Lee County Sheriff's Department at (662) 841-9040 or Crime Stoppers of Northeast MS at (800) 773-TIPS.
