Goose Creek Hess manager wins state's highest award

GOOSE CREEK, SC - A manager at a Hess Express in Goose Creek won the South Carolina Association of Convenience Stores’ Store Manager of the Year award.

Dale Feagin has been a manager at the Hess for eight years and beat more than 3,600 stores that make up the association.

"I enjoy it,” Feagin said. “It's a challenge. You get to work with people every day. You have opportunities to serve people and to help people."

The South Carolina Association of Convenience Stores said Feagin was chosen based on both his service in the community and work in the store.

"He was the go-to person for Hess," Margie Boyar, the SCACS awards chairman said. “If they needed something, they knew they could rely on him because he always took care of what needed to be done."

Feagin said being a good manager just means being good to people.

"They need a good experience when they walk in the door,” Feagin said. “Just like any other really good retail business, if you're going to be successful, that's what you have to do. You have to treat people with respect."

Feagin will officially accept his award at the association’s conference in Hilton Head on July 20.
