COLLETON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Colleton County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a female victim was shot in the leg late Tuesday night.
According to an incident report, deputies responded to 500 Rivers Street around 9:30 p.m. in reference to a possible shots being fired.
Officials met with witnesses, who claimed a woman was shot in the leg at 51 Furlong Street. The victim was transported to the hospital by "some family," according to a witness.
Deputies then met with the victim, who claimed shots were fired from the wood line by an unknown person. Officials say it is believed the shooting was a result from an earlier argument with another female that threatened to shoot the victim.
The victim's wound is non-life threatening, deputies say.
The shooting is under investigation.
