(RNN) - The Supreme Court decided in a in a 6-3 ruling that Aereo violates the Copyright Act.
Aereo used small television antennas to distribute over the air signals of local stations to smart phones and tablets.
Viewers could not only watch broadcast television, but record shows and stream them later. ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC and PBS were among those suing Aereo for copyright infringement.
Justices Antonin Scalia, Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas dissented in the judgment.
