COLLETON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The Highway Patrol says one person died in a crash that shut down I-95 Wednesday morning.
The crash happened at approximately 9:34 a.m. on the southbound side of the interstate near exit 41, according Highway Patrol Senior Trooper Hannah Wimberly.
A Dodge Durango and a Ford F-250 truck were involved in the crash. The driver of the Durango was airlifted to Savannah Memorial Hospital and a passenger in that vehicle was pronounced dead on the scene, Wimberly said. The driver of the other vehicle was airlifted to MUSC.
Traffic on both sides of the interstate had to be shut down temporarily to allow medical helicopters to land near the crash scene.
The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
