CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Officials with the Charleston Police Department say a Summerville man was arrested within minutes after robbing a pharmacy in downtown Charleston this past weekend.
Authorities charged 47-year-old Gene Hart with armed robbery.
On Sunday at 6 p.m., police say a man walked into the Rite Aid on 261 Calhoun St., approached the pharmacist and said he was armed with a gun. He then demanded prescription medication.
After receiving three prescription bottles, the suspect walked out of the pharmacy.
A description of the suspect was then provided to patrol officers. Authorities say the suspect was located near Jonathan Lucas Street and Calhoun Street.
Hart was being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center.
Police are continuing the investigation.
