CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A 11-year-old Charleston piano prodigy who has performed at Piccolo Spoleto took top honors at an international music competition in Pennsylvania on Wednesday.
Caleb Borick was named the Grand Prize Winner in the Philadelphia International Music Festival Concerto Competition, according to the Charleston Academy of Music.
Borick was chosen among young musicians of all ages and instruments to appear as a soloist with the Ocean City Pops Orchestra in New Jersey next year.
Borick studies piano at the Charleston Academy of Music and has performed at Piccolo Spoleto Young Rising Star Series, TEDx Charleston, Bishop Gadsden, the Garden Club of Charleston, SC Regional Arts Alliance Annual Meeting, CSO Design Showcase, the MUSC Hollings Center and local nursing homes and hospices.
A scholarship from the Charleston Symphony Orchestra League funded his participation in the music festival this summer, Charleston Academy of Music Program Coordinator Christine Arant said.
