Georgetown lifts boil-water advisory

GEORGETOWN, SC (WCSC) - Residents of the city of Georgetown no longer need to boil their water before using it.

Testing of water samples Wednesday night confirmed the water was safe and the advisory was lifted.

A boil-water advisory was issued after a water main break on Tuesday caused water lines to lose pressure, which could have resulted in a build-up of pathogens like protozoa, bacteria and viruses that could cause illness.

City leaders had said there was no confirmed contamination, but the advisory was issued as a precaution for City of Georgetown Water Utility customers.
