NCFD: Ashley Shores fire was 'intentional in nature'
NORTH CHARLESTON (WCSC) -
A Thursday night fire at an apartment complex in North Charleston that was put up for sale in May has been deemed "intentional in nature" by the North Charleston Fire Department.
Fire officials say they responded to reports of a fire at the former Ashley Shores Apartment Complex off Azalea Drive just before 10:40 p.m. Crews arrived to find heavy smoke and fire coming from a vacant two-story building.
The fire was quickly extinguished and no injures were reported.
An investigation into the cause of the fire determined it was intentional, according to the fire department.
All residents of Ashley Shores Apartment Complex were required to move out earlier this year, and the complex was put up for sale in May.
Fire officials ask that if you have information regarding this fire to contact the SC Arson Hotline at 1-800-922-7766, or the North Charleston Police Department at 843-740-5839.
