BEAFORT COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Investigators have arrested a 37-year-old downtown Charleston man accused of sexually assaulting a child in 2012.
The Port Royal Police Department arrested Michael A. Nolff on Thursday and charged him with criminal sexual conduct with a minor under the age of 11.
Police say Nolff's arrest stems from an incident at the Preserve Apartments where Nolff allegedly sexually assaulted a 6-year-old girl.
According to police officials, the allegation of the sexual assault was discovered during the investigation of an unrelated incident by another agency who then contacted Port Royal police.
An investigation was then started which led to Nolff's arrest.
Nolff is currently locked up at the Beaufort County Detention Center.
