'Reckless' stars talk about their favorite parts of the Lowcountry

The cast of Reckless has filmed television shows and movies all across the country, but many of the stars consider themselves “lucky” to have shot the new CBS series in Charleston.

"As I'm walking down the street, people actually say ‘hello’,” Actor Cam Gigandet says. “They're kind and they open the door, and it's just a surreal kind of experience."

Gigandet lived in downtown Charleston throughout the duration of the five-month shoot.

"Even just walking around is more enjoyable than walking around in [Los Angeles] where I live and so it’s always new and different to see different areas of downtown,” he says.

Gigandet’s costar, Anna Wood, grew up in Mount Airy, North Carolina, but hadn’t visited the Lowcountry since her childhood.

“I definitely didn't get to know the city like I feel like I know it now," she says.

When the cast wasn’t running lines for the show, they were able to explore the Holy City.

"I'm a bit of a history buff so I love all the old architecture and all the incredible moments with both the wars that happened here and those sorts of things," Wood says.

Costar Georgina Haig used her Twitter account to show off her go-to spots: She mentioned downtown restaurants Husk and Rarebit.

"I love the food -- the food is great,” Gigandet says. “I'm not a big foodie, like some of the people on the cast, but I have gotten more adventurous since I've been here when it comes to food. And I have loved it."

Her time in the Lowcountry has led Wood to take part in another tradition.

“I've done a bajillion carriage tours,” she says. “Because any time I have a visitor, I put them on a horse and carriage.”

Reckless airs Sunday nights at 10 p.m. on Live 5 WCSC.
