Police: 1 arrested in early-morning N. Charleston shooting

North Charleston police say one man is in custody facing an attempted murder charge following an early morning shooting on Dorchester Road.

Bobby Warthaw, 26, was arrested near the scene of the shooting at a Dorchester Road gas station where police found one victim on the ground between two vehicles around 1:30 a.m. Saturday, according to NCPD spokesman Spencer Pryor.

Police spotted Warthaw lying in a driveway of a South Allen Drive home and police found a pistol in a plastic recycling bin at the side of the house, Pryor says.

Police believe Warthaw and the victim were involved in some type of altercation, resulting in Warthaw shooting the victim. Police say Warthaw then ran across the parking lot toward the home where police found him.

The suspect was transported to MUSC, Pryor says.
