Coroner: Truck overturns killing driver in Berkeley County

BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The Berkeley County Coroner's Office says a 41-year-old man died after his truck overturned near Bonneau early Monday morning.

Coroner Bill Salisbury said the accident happened at 7:30 a.m. on Harristown Road.

Authorities say Gary Edwin Simmons was traveling in his truck when it ran off the roadway and overturned.

According to Salisbury, Simmons was ejected from the truck and pronounced dead on the scene.

Simmons' death has been ruled accidental.

The accident was investigated by the Berkeley County Coroner's Office and the SC Highway Patrol.
