(CNN) – Kentucky Senator Rand Paul and Texas Governor Rick Perry, two possible Republican presidential contenders, are engaged in a war of words over U.S. policy, and it’s getting personal.

In an opinion editorial for the website Politico on Monday, Paul made a crack at Perry’s fashion accessories.

“Apparently, his new glasses haven’t altered his perception of the world, or allowed him to see it any more clearly,” Paul wrote.

This was in response to a Washington Post op-ed written by Perry, which blasted Paul for reportedly suggesting the nation, “should ignore what’s happening in Iraq.”

Paul argues there is no easy way answers to the fighting in Iraq, but war should not be the only one.
