WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - Emergency crews were called out to a home in a West Ashley neighborhood after lightning reportedly struck a home Tuesday night.
Officials with the Charleston Fire Department say their department along with St. Andrews were alerted for a possible structure fire around 6:52 p.m. at a home on Muirfield Parkway.
CFD officials say when crews arrived at the home they saw smoke from the attic, and extinguished the fire.
The owner of the home reported that lightning struck the house prior to the fire in the attic.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the fire.
Emergency officials say no one was hurt in the incident.
Neighbors reported several emergency crews on the scene including fire officials and medical personnel.
