Columbus boyfriend accused of murder granted $500,000 bond

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

A judge granted a Columbus man accused of murder a $500,000 bond.

Vashon Walker, 23, is accused of murdering his girlfriend inside their home on June 17, 2014. Walker claims an intruder entered their home that night and shot Jessica Osborne in the side of the head. He says he fought the intruder, but police did not find any wounds on Walker.

According to witnesses, Walker and Osborne were arguing on their front lawn a few minutes before they heard a gunshot fire. Walker was later seen exiting the house covered in blood. They did not see any other person come out of the house.

Walker pleaded not guilty in court.

The coroner said Osborne's death is the 12th homicide in Columbus this year, and third death caused by domestic violence in 2014.
