Most Wanted: Female forgery suspect

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Columbus police need your help finding a woman wanted for forgery. News Leader 9's Semone Doughton explains in this week's Most Wanted.

She doesn't look like your everyday thief, but this woman is wanted by police for forgery in the 4th degree.

Corporal Deborah Whitley with the Columbus Police Department explains how it all started.

"A female ordered a box of checks from her bank and actually took one book out and kept for herself and she put the other box up," Cpl. Whitely said. "During that time she was moving and she lost track of the box of checks."

Police say the checks somehow ended up in the hands of this woman who used those check to make several illegal purchases.

"The female suspect has made large purchases of food in the restaurants and it showed her loading large amounts of food into the vehicle."

Surveillance photos of the suspect making some of those purchases revealed a white female between 45 to 50 years old. She's between 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall. She has brown colored hair with a tint of red in it. She wears glasses and has a thin build.

Police say was she was seen loading a large amount of food in a dark green Suzuki-type SUV.

But here's where the story gets even crazier, according to police: the name, date of birth, and driver's licenses number the suspect signed on the checks belonged to another female.

"We're not sure if the lady is affiliated with the one she's writing the check on," Cpl. Whitley said.

Right now, police are not trying to find out if the female whose name is being used is a willing participant or another victim.

So look closely at this forgery suspect and help police make a much needed deposit in the nearest jail cell.
