Suspect named in downtown Charleston weekend stabbing

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Charleston police are asking for the public's help in locating a suspect wanted for allegedly stabbing a man outside a downtown Charleston home over the weekend.

Police say 47-year-old Edward Singleton is wanted for assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, and possession of a knife during a violent crime.

Officials say Singleton stabbed a man outside of a home on Huger Street around 3:50 a.m. Sunday. A witness at the scene told police she walked out of her room to find the victim with blood on his clothes, claiming he was stabbed by a man known as "Hazel."

Authorities warn caution should be used when approaching the suspect.

The incident is under investigation.
