Goose Creek Police wants public input on policies, enforcement

GOOSE CREEK, SC (WCSC) - A team of examiners wants to hear how well the Goose Creek Police Department is doing when it comes to following policies and procedures, management, operations and support services.

Residents of Goose Creek and employees of the department can offer comments at a public information meeting on Tuesday, August 5 at 5 p.m. at the Goose Creek Municipal Center.

Anyone who wishes to offer comment but cannot attend that meeting may call (843) 863-5224 on Tuesday, August 5, between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Both telephone comments and comments in person at the meeting will be limited to 10 minutes and must address the agency's ability to comply with CALEA standards, a copy of which is available at the Goose Creek Police Department, according to police spokesperson Capt. John Grainger.

CALEA is assessing Goose Creek police to determine if the agency will maintain its accreditation, regarded in law enforcement circles as a highly-prized recognition of excellence, Grainger said.

Anyone wishing to offer written responses can send them to The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA), 13575 Heathcote Boulevard, Suite 320, Gainesville, Virginia, 20155.
