ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Investigators have arrested a 69-year-old club owner accused of fatally shooting a customer at his establishment in Orangeburg County.
The Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office charged James Williams with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
According to Sheriff Leroy Ravenell, the shooting happened at the Corner Pocket Night Club on Goff Avenue on July 19.
A report states that the victim was kicked out of the club after an altercation. Investigators say Williams followed the victim outside the club, and later shot the victim once in the abdomen.
According to the sheriff's office report, Williams admitted that he shot the victim.
"After a thorough investigation and review of the forensic evidence and witness statements, we are charging 69-year-old James Williams with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime," Ravenell said.
