USC's Dylan Thompson proposes to girlfriend

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

USC starting quarterback Dylan Thompson proposed to his girlfriend Melanie Helm Saturday night.

"Had to break twitter for this... WE'RE ENGAGED!!!! Wow. God is so GREAT!!! Love you Mel!!" Thompson tweeted.

No word yet if the couple has set a date.

The Boiling Springs native has completed 55 percent of his passes over the past three seasons for 1,827 yards with 14 touchdowns and five interceptions.

Thompson and the Gamecocks will kick off the season at home against Texas A&M Aug. 28.

    A Beaufort County Convenience Center is closed after a fire destroyed the attendant’s office. The building at the Sheldon Convenience Center on Johnson Road was burned in a fire Thursday night. The Beaufort County Public Works Department Solid Waste and Recycling Division closed the center until further notice.  In the meantime, residents can use the nearby convenience centers at 63 Big Estate Road, 6 Keans Neck Road or 80 Shanklin Road.
