Christmas in July party aims to change lives

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Outside of Without Walls Ministry's King Street building, folks felt Summer temperatures. But inside, "Away in a Manger" filled a building decked out with holiday decorations including a Christmas Tree.

It was all part of the organization's effort to gather gifts, food, and clothing for their yearly "Christmas at the Citadel Stadium" event.

Gordon Cashwell, Director of Without Walls Ministry says, "I think a lot of people lose the Christmas spirit throughout the year."

Along with the faithful tunes, volunteers were busy wrapping up shoe-boxes. They hope to fill those boxes with holiday cheer for this upcoming Christmas.

Longtime ministry volunteer, Thomas J Parson says, "we make a great impact on the people of Charleston, and on the hungry and on the veterans and especially the kids."

Cashwell's group aims to give hundreds of kids and around two thousand adults something to remember at this year's December event. If you are interested in helping out you can contact Without Walls Ministry at (843) 958-1039.
