Suspects sought in St. George Waffle House armed robbery

ST. GEORGE, SC (WCSC) -

Police are investigating an early morning armed robbery that involved shots fired at a St. George Waffle House.

St. George Police Chief Brett Camp says two gunmen entered Waffle House off Highway 78 around 2:47 a.m. and demanded money. One of the suspects was wielding a shotgun, while the other had a handgun.

Camp says one of the suspects noticed what he thought was a safe behind the counter and fired his handgun at it in an attempt to crack the lock. The bullet ricocheted off the drop box, sending the bullet into the floor.

According to Camp, the suspects snagged the entire cash till before fleeing the store.

No one was injured in the armed robbery.
