NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Charleston County deputies say two men were arrested over the weekend after two handguns were spotted being thrown from a car they were traveling in.
According to an incident report, deputies were patrolling Dorchester Road Saturday around 12:45 a.m. when they drove next the suspects' vehicle and noticed the two occupants "making furtive movements."
Deputies say they spotted an item, later identified as a handgun, being thrown out the passenger window of the vehicle, before the vehicle quickly pulled in to a gas station. A second gun was also thrown out the passenger window when the suspects' vehicle entered the gas station parking lot.
Officers say one of the suspects, 19-year-old Latrel Hamilton, admitted to throwing his Springfield XD pistol out the passenger window while on Dorchester Road. Hamilton said he found the handgun on the side of the road near his house. The gun was discovered to have been reported as lost.
The report states a Taurus pistol and its magazine were found laying in dirt at the entrance of the gas station.
Both guns had a bullet in their chambers.
Deputies say the second suspect, 20-year-old Daqone Lance, refused to talk to authorities and demanded a lawyer.
The two suspects were arrested and charged with unlawful carry of a pistol. Hamilton was also charged with possession of cocaine base, after .2 grams of the substance was reportedly found in his pants pocket.
