ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - A Bowman man is behind bars accused of robbing several customers at a gas station in Orangeburg County.
The Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office arrested 42-year-old Arthur Lee Johnson, Jr. on Monday and charged him with five counts of armed robbery and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
Johnson's charges stems from an incident at the Pilot Gas Station on July 13 at 1:21 a.m. when five customers were threatened by a man armed with a gun, and robbed in the parking lot.
Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said Johnson demanded cash from the victims before letting them go because they had a child with them.
Johnson was denied bond on Tuesday.
"Johnson has previous arrests for armed robbery, grand larceny, burglary and kidnapping in Anderson County and his prisons sentences have not reformed him," Ravenell said."It is evident by his violent acts that he is a danger to society and the best place for him is behind bars."
