CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Weeks before thousands of college students pour into the Holy City, Charleston police are cracking down on underage alcohol sales.
Tuesday, six different businesses along King Street, Calhoun, and Rutledge, were caught selling alcohol to a minor.
A spokesperson for the Charleston City Police department said vendors were each summoned to appear in court at a later date.
Meanwhile, managers at nearby King Street restaurants told Live 5 News Thursday, the string of busts serves as a wake up call for all Charleston businesses.
Managers say spotting a fake ID has become much more difficult, in part due to more advance technology.
Many have opted to hire security teams to conduct checks, others raising prices to ward off underage customers.
