ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office has arrested a 20-year-old man accused of accidentally killing his friend during a shooting on Monday.
Investigators charged Marquis Diondre Stevenson of Orangeburg with possession of a weapon during a violent crime and murder.
Stevenson's arrest stems from a shooting on Stilton Road and Goff Avenue on Monday.
"Officers were flagged down by a concerned citizen at approximately 11:30 a.m. Monday, August 4 who indicated that she heard gunshots while traveling along Stilton Road," Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said."Officers discovered a shattered back window of a vehicle park near a house and a male victim laying in the front yard at a Stilton Road address."
Authorities say Stevenson accidentally shot his friend, the 20-year-old victim, while shooting at two other individuals during an altercation about stolen drugs.
Ravenell said,"We extend our condolences to the families of the three men whose lives were cut short over the past three days by senseless acts. It is imperative that we teach our children, grand children, and those that we have contact with about the value of human life as well as the serious and life changing consequences of committing criminal acts."
An arraignment for Stevenson is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
