FOLLY BEACH, SC (WCSC) - A tourist from Texas captured video and a picture of a man pulling in a blacktip shark and releasing it on Folly Beach Wednesday afternoon.
Deanna Presnell Perez said the man caught the shark and pulled it to the shore in the area of 12th Street around 3 p.m.
According to Perez, the shark was about 5-feet long, and was released back into the ocean.
About an hour before, witnesses had reported that a boy was reportedly bitten by a 5-foot shark in the area of the 1300 block of East Ashley Road around 2 p.m.
Perez said she didn't think the shark she spotted was the shark that bit the boy, and reported that the same fisherman, who was seen in the photo she snapped, caught another shark shortly after he released the first one.
"As cliche as it sounds, we're in their home," Perez said."It was only doing what comes naturally to it. We will be extra cautious about how far out the kids go."
Perez has been coming to Folly Beach every year to visit family and says it was the first time she ever saw a man pull a shark out of the ocean.
