CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Many looking for ways to cut costs and keep more cash in our pockets for necessities are considering fuel reward programs to ease the cost of filling up.

Lowcountry drivers have several free options that don't require a sign-up for a credit card, but they all work differently.

BI-LO Fuel Perks is a popular program that will earn cents off per-gallon while shoppers fill up their fridges with groceries. Shoppers save five cents per gallon for every $50 in groceries purchased, and must have a free BI-LO BonusCard to participate.

BI-LO FuelPerks cannot be combined with Spinx's Xtras Rewards, but when motorists use their Spinx Xtras Card as a debit card, they save five cents per gallon. Plus, for every $25 spent in a Spinx convenience store, you get an additional five cents off per gallon and more on monthly in-store "Xtraspecials." Shoppers need to link their checking account to their card to be able to use the card as a debit card.

Monthly in-store specials also help earn discounts on fuel with Sunoco's APlus Rewards Card. Purchasing select items in the store will reduce the price of fuel. No sign-up is required and the free card can be picked up at local participating Sunoco locations.

Shell's Fuel Rewards Network turns your everyday spending into gasoline savings at participating grocery stores, online or at participating Shell stations. There are countless ways for you to earn and there's no limit to how much you can earn. And members save three cents per gallon every time they full up just for being a member.
