NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Three people are behind bars after a car chase ended in a wreck that injured a motorist in North Charleston Monday night.
The North Charleston Police Department charged 21-year-old Dameon Lamar Thompson, 22-year-old Keon Quadraius Bright and 22-year-old Touvaruss Jones with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and resisting arrest.
Thompson was also charged with first-degree assault and battery, failure to stop for blue lights and leaving the scene with personal injury.
At 7:10 p.m., officers in the area of Dorchester Road observed a vehicle which was sought in connection to a foot chase from an earlier incident.
A police report states when the suspect's car left a gas station, the driver, later identified as Thompson, spotted police and began to speed up in the area of Dorchester Road and Lambs Road.
The officer reported that he attempted a traffic stop on the suspect's vehicle which failed to stop.
According to police, as the suspect's car made a turn onto International Boulevard where the suspect's car failed to yield the right of way and collided with a SUV.
Authorities say the driver of the SUV sustained minor injuries in the incident.
Following the crash, police say Thompson and Jones fled on foot, while Bright remained in the car.
Authorities say Thompson was arrested in a Chili's parking lot, while Jones was arrested in the woods near the Holiday Inn on International Boulevard.
According to investigators, police located 241 grams of marijuana packaged in five separate bags.
