Police find meth lab along with fugitive at Walterboro hotel

Investigators say officers found a meth lab along with a wanted woman in a Walterboro hotel.

The Walterboro Public Safety Department arrested 27-year-old Shelley Nicole Pafford of Cottageville who police say is wanted by law enforcement agencies in Jasper County.

On Monday morning, investigators responded to the Southern Inn on 1630 Bells Highway for a report of a meth lab.

According to police, when officers entered the hotel room they could smell an "overwhelming odor" and could see in plain view a "one pot bottle."

Authorities say they also observed needles, filters, batteries, and other chemicals used to produce meth.

Officers detained Pafford and 46-year-old William Bennett of Walterboro who were in the room.

In addition, a WPSD report states that officers also found a "meth boat," as well as a spoon containing with what appeared to be crack cocaine.

Police then contacted emergency crews to clean up the meth lab.

Investigators say Pafford and Bennett were both arrested on meth manufacturing charges.
