LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Durham Transportation in Wolfforth is in need of drivers for the 2014-2015 school year.

Dispatcher Stephanie Wood says they are in desperate need of five or six drivers to be fully staffed, but assures us they will be ready to take on all routes on the first day of school.

"We have several in class right now," Wood says. "We will continue to hire to cover field trips and extracurricular activities."

She says they are looking for applicants who are at least 21-years-old with a clear driving record and no criminal background. A physical must be passed, as well.

"They come in and fill out the application," she said. "They will do an employee safety inventory evaluation, and then we will do an interview. They will come in for a classroom training, then we will do behind the wheel training and get certified for their CDL. We take them down to DPS to do their testing."

Wood says bus driving is a very rewarding and is the perfect part-time job.

"Pay starts out at $10.50 an hour," she said. "It is perfect for stay-at-home moms, retirees, college students even. We work well with college schedules. You work two hours in the morning and two hours in the afternoon. You can bring your kids to work with you, which is great for daycare. My kids have been coming for years. They come and ride the bus when I have to drive. We have 401K and health care that we offer."

If you would like to apply, call 806-866-2136 or visit Durham at 8416 Alcove Avenue in Wolfforth.
