SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

The Shoppes at Bellemead off Youree Drive are going pink for a cause.

It's all to help raise money and awareness for breast cancer.

The Northwest Louisiana chapter of Susan G. Komen is holding their Friday in Pink from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday.

The goal is to raise $50,000 for breast cancer research.

Shoppers are encouraged to wear pink and donate. Many stores at Bellemead will offer special discounts for the event.

The Friday in Pink event kicks off the breast cancer fundraising season leading up to the annual Race for the Cure on November 1.

Free clinical breast exams and information on breast health will also be offered at the shopping center.
