Moncks Corner Police release surveillance video in convenience store robbery

RAW VIDEO: Sunoco robbery

MONCKS CORNER, SC (WCSC) - Police in Moncks Corner are trying to identify a robber who sneaked up behind a convenience store employee, demanded she take him to the store's office, and then robbed the business.

The robbery occurred at the Sunoco on Live Oak Drive in the early-morning hours of Aug. 4, police say. They released footage of the incident on Thursday.

The employee on duty told police she walked outside at approximately 5:15 a.m. to pick up a newspaper that had been delivered. She said a man sneaked up behind her and apparently put his thumb in her back to imitate a gun, demanding that she go back into the store's office.

The robber produced a small draw string bag and ordered the employee to place cash into it, then fled out the back door, the victim said.

Police were able to confirm the victim's story through surveillance video and tracks found outside at the rear exit of the building, according to the incident report.

Anyone with any information should call Crime Stoppers at (843) 554-1111.
