Traffic sluggish after pair of accidents cleared on I-26

The State Highway Patrol has cleared a pair of accidents that happened one mile apart from each other in the westbound lanes of I-26 on Friday afternoon, but traffic remained sluggish heading into rush hour.

At 4:22 p.m., Live 5 News Traffic Tracker estimated the average speed for drivers on the westbound lanes between Dorchester Road and West Aviation Avenue to be 25 mph, an improvement over the 10 mph reading estimated an hour earlier while the accidents were still active.

The first accident involved a collision at approximately 2:28 pm. near the 209 mile marker in the westbound lane of the interstate. No injuries were reported in that collision.

The second, just one mile later at marker 210, was reported at 2:44 p.m., but there were no details on whether injuries are involved.
