HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Spice company McCormick is recalling more than 1,000 cases of packaged ground oregano due to possible salmonella. Alabama is one of 41 states that received the spices.

The company is initiating a voluntary recall of the McCormick Ground Oregano. Specifically the three-quarter ounce bottle. There is a specific UPC label the product has and best by dates. The Food and Drug Administration said this recall does not impact any other McCormick ground, whole, or oregano leaves products.

The FDA also said the recall came up after the organization did some routine testing. It affects more than 1,000 cases shipped out to 41 different states, and multiple countries. The FDA said McCormick has alerted grocery stores to remove the product.

McCormick asked consumers with this potentially contaminated oregano to throw it away immediately. They don't want you to return it to the store where you purchased it. You can find some information here on how to get a full refund if you purchased the specific spice.
