McKissick voted into SC Coaches Hall of Fame

Summerville Head Coach John McKissick is one of nine coaches who have been voted in for the inaugural class of the South Carolina Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame, the group announced on Tuesday.

McKissick, who will begin his 63rd season as the leader of Green Wave this week, is the only member of the class who is still actively coaching.

The 87 year old coach has won 613 games and 10 state titles in his first 62 years in Summerville.

Bob Rankin, who spent some time as a head coach in Berkeley is also in the inaugural class.

The other members of the class include Paul Chapman (Dillon), Julius Babb (Greenwood), Keith Richardson (Clinton), Doug Shaw (Myrtle Beach), Thomas L. Smith Sr. (Howard), Joe Turbeville (Winnsboro, Spring Valley, Irmo) and Willie Varner (Woodruff).
