Beer, Wine, Antiques, and Classic Cars in this week's 5 Around Town

The taste of the grape or the juice of the barley? The choice is yours with splash of vintage and antique in this week's 5 Around Town.


Die-hard beer enthusiasts will find plenty of choices to wet their whistle at the annual Ballpark Festival of Beers at the Joe on Saturday. From 6:00 to 9:00 pm, you'll have more than 100 varieties of beer from around the world to sample. In addition to the brews, food trucks will help you fill your stomach. The festival also includes live music and a corn hole tournament. Tickets are $25 at any area Kickin' Chicken location. Day of tickets are $30 at the RiverDogs Box Office. Get your feet stompin' for the annual festival out at Irvin-House Vineyards on Wadmalaw Island. The 11th Annual Grape Stomping Festival is Saturday from Noon to 5:00 pm. The festival includes the grape stomp contest, a "Lucy" look-alike contest (from the famous grape stomping scene from "I Love Lucy"), wine and spirit tastings, food, live music, and activities for the kids. The tastings are $6 to taste 6 Firefly spirits and $5 to taste 5 wines. Admission to the festival is $10 per car. Check out IrvinHouseVineyards.com for more information.


You can go antiquing in Park Circle this weekend at North Charleston's annual Village Antiques and Collectibles Show. At the Felix C. Davis Community Center, you can check out antiques of all kinds including furniture, jewelry, art, guns, china, plus vintage toys, games, instruments and more. The show is open both Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm both days. Admission is $2 and supports the "Spay Not Slay" Endowment. Go to the Event Website for more details. 


Bikers will help raise money and awareness to support Lowcountry firefighters and their families on Sunday. You can join the 4th Annual Steel Pony Ride at at Lowcountry Harley Davidson in North Charleston. Registration starts at 11:00 am and the police-escorted ride starts at 12:30 pm. It's $15 per biker and $5 per passenger. The bikers will travel to the Charleston Tea Plantation on Wadmalaw Island to join the car and truck show. The show will include vintage cars, live music, and food truck vendors. Money raised will support the Lowcountry Firefighter Support Team. You can see more on the Event Facebook page


The kids made it through the first week of school and it's time for another party. Wild Blue Ropes on James Island is hosting a Back to School Bash Sunday from 12 pm to 6 pm. The event will feature live music, food and four climb times of two hours each. You can sign up to climb at 10 am, 12 pm, 2 pm, and 4 pm. Each of the climbing sessions is $30. Admission to the event itself is $10. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Pattison's Academy to support education and rehabilitation programs for children with multiple to severe disabilities.
