CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Investigators say a downtown Charleston woman had a surprise in store for two would-be robbers when she took out a gun and opened fire on them.
On Wednesday night, Charleston police responded to a home on Ashley Avenue for a report of a shooting.
When officers arrived on scene they saw several bullet holes in the wall and window of an apartment.
According to the victim, it all started when two men approached her as she was just getting out of her vehicle with her child in her arms.
Investigators say the suspects, who were armed with guns, told the victim to go into her house.
When the woman got to her home, she ran to the bedroom, put her child down and grabbed a gun.
Police say the woman then entered the living room where the two suspects were standing and started shooting.
The men then ran out of the house.
