GOOSE CREEK, SC (WCSC) - Folks living in Goose Creek are feeling the heat even more.
Their city has the distinction of being one of the hottest in the area.
"It's awful, it's awful, but it's August, so we expect it," resident Henrietta Edwards said.
So what puts Goose Creek on the hot city list?
Live 5 Chief Meteorologist Bill Walsh says part of the reason is it's located inland and away from the water.
"But climatically and scientifically it may not be the hottest place because you got Walterboro, you got Knightsville, you got all the communities that can be hot as Goose Creek," Walsh explained.
We asked Goose Creek's mayor if some of that hot air may be coming from city hall.
"I don't think any hot air comes from city hall. I think it's drifting up south of here," said Mayor Michael Heitzler.
Some folks in Goose Creek aren't sweating over it.
"You have to be used to South Carolina weather and I am," Forest Gibbs said.
"Impressive and oppressive. It's bad, whoo," Connecticut resident Mike LeTourneau said.
Another guy said he has a financial reason for not worrying about the heat.
"It's hot, we love it because we are in the heating and air conditioning business. The hotter it is, the better it is," said Mitch Langford who has a heating and air conditioning business.
So if you can't stand the heat, just jump in the pool to cool off.
If you can't, Bill Walsh has some advice.
"Yes, move to Buffalo, no I'm just kidding."
