MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - Police say a 48-year-old man was arrested after he exposed to himself to several people at a Mount Pleasant hotel and sent a message to a hotel tenant advertising the act.
The Mount Pleasant Police Department charged Scott Longfield of Mount Pleasant with three counts of indecent exposure.
On Tuesday morning, two police officers responded to the Hampton Inn on 1104 Hungryneck Boulevard in reference to a man standing naked at a hotel room window. The hotel manager told the officers that a man, later identified as Longfield, had been exposing himself.
Customers and employees reported seeing Longfield standing naked in front of a hotel room window. The manager said two of his employees also saw Longfield standing naked in his room with the door open on Monday.
A female tenant below Longfield's room said she found a note that had been slipped under her door. A police report said the note said,"Naked man in window of his hotel right now! Look close & you will see."
As officers were speaking to the manager, two women said they just saw Longfield doing a sexual act on himself from the second floor window. Another witness also reported seeing the same incident.
When the officers got to the window, they reported seeing the window propped open by a small trash can, but could not see any movement inside the room.
Officers say when they made contact with Longfield at the hotel room, Longfield said that he had gotten out of the shower and he may have walked past the window naked. Police say Longfield matched the description of the subject seen by witnesses.
A Mount Pleasant Police Department report states officers found multiple large carrots on the floor with condoms on them. Police also found multiple condom wrappers on the floor and a toy bubble wand with a condom on the handle of it.
Police officers report that they discovered three similar notes that were given to the female tenant at the hotel. According to officers, the notes were ripped in half and found in the trash can.
Investigators say the notes read:
"Naked man in hotel window-now see what he does. Right next door. Hampton"
"Guy naked in hotel window. Right now. Right next door."
"Naked man in hotel window tonight. Right next door."
Longfield's bond was set at $30,000.
