CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

Charleston police arrested a 19-year-old man for an attempted armed robbery of a Chinese food delivery driver.

Police say Ethan Lamont Jenkins, of North Charleston, is charged with attempted armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

The charges are in connection with a July 31 incident in which a driver was making a delivery to a home on Rose Lane when he was approached by a man armed with a handgun who demanded his money, according to police spokesman Charles Francis.

When the driver refused to give the man money, the man tried to grab the food, the report states.

Police say the man didn't get money or food and fled the area.

Jenkins was being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center. The investigation continues.
