CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Charleston Police arrested a pair of suspects for the theft of wiring spools from a Calhoun Street construction site.
Angelo Leonard Thompson, 45, of North Charleston, is charged with third-degree burglary, possession of cocaine base and driving under suspension third offense, according to Charleston Police spokesman Charles Francis.
Jody Bowens, 56, of Goose Creek, is charged with third-degree burglary and possession of cocaine base, Francis said.
Police say the men stole two spools of wiring valued at $6,800 from a construction site at 77 Calhoun Street at around 4:20 a.m. on Sunday. A security guard saw the men place the spools into an SUV and called police with a description of the vehicle.
Based on the description, police stopped the men's vehicle, traveling westbound on George Street, and found the wiring spools on the rear passenger seat, Francis said.
Police also found 0.3 grams of cocaine base in the vehicle, according to the incident report.
Both men were being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center.
