LADSON, SC (WCSC) - A mother and her teenage son dropped to the floor in the middle of the night after two bullets hit their Ladson home, one coming through her son's room while he was in bed.
Live 5 News met with the woman, who didn't want to be identified, about 12 hours after the shots were fired. She was still very shook up.
"I am very upset. I am nervous. I am scared. I've been here, and I'm a homeowner. I don't know what to do, and I don't want this to ever happen again."
She says she heard rapid gunfire around 4 a.m. Tuesday outside her home on Levenshall Street in Heaton Place. She and her son were in adjacent rooms.
"After the gunshots had stopped and everything, he and I did communicate, but at that time, too, I did press my phone for 911."
One bullet pierced the outer window of the room she was in, and another went through her son's wall and exited out.
"We have a lot of military in this neighborhood. We have a lot of children in the neighborhood. We have a lot of elderly in the neighborhood, so it's nothing that happens."
According to the incident report, ten shell casings were found on the front porch of a house around the corner on Manerbriar Street.
Charleston County deputies say the trajectory of the bullets was consistent with someone standing on the porch, firing a weapon. Officials say the homeowner was uncooperative and told them she had no weapons in her home.
"If this happens like this and nothing takes place, and we don't do anything. We don't come together. The next time we will be sitting here, somebody, even if it's not me, will be here looking over their loved one with a sheet over them."
