NORTH CHARLESTON (WCSC) - North Charleston police are investigating after a woman claims she was hit by gunfire while lying in her bed early Tuesday morning.
Police patrolling in the area of Rivers Avenue say they heard numerous gunshots early Tuesday morning coming from where they believed to be Horizon Village. While searching the area, they were called to the 3800 block of Chestnut Street in reference to a gunshot victim.
The victim told police she was in her kitchen when she heard what she thought was a person walking in the backyard.
The victim says she returned to her bedroom and laid in bed. She then heard gunshots, and realized she was hit in her right ankle.
Police say the victim was transported to MUSC with non-life threatening injuries.
The incident is under investigation.
