MONCKS CORNER, SC (WCSC) - As the investigation into the Moncks Corner fire continues, crews say arson does not appear to be the cause.
Berkeley County Sheriff's Office is assisting multiple fire departments in the investigation.
They have determined the blaze started in one mobile home Tuesday morning and spread to the other two homes. They say this is common when homes are so close together.
According to Pine Ridge Deputy Fire Chief Jon Ryan, the homes did not have insurance and were vacation homes.
No one was hurt in the Tuesday morning fire, but all three mobile homes and a shed were considered a total loss.
Dispatchers say the call came in at 3:19 a.m. Tuesday to an area near Ophir Street at Broughton Road.
Fire officials say they used water from Lake Moultrie, located about 600 feet away, to put out the blaze. It took them less than an hour to get it under control.
Firefighters from four different departments including Whitesville, Moncks Corner Rural, Pine Ridge and Santee Circle worked the scene.
